Between 3 and 6 inches of snow forecast in northeastern, central Wisconsin on Monday

WAUSAU — Snow is expected to sweep across Wisconsin on Monday and could impact the evening commute. 

Between 3 and 6 inches of snow is expected in northeastern and central Wisconsin, according to the National Weather Service. Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and areas further south can expect a rain/snow mix or all rain due to temperatures in the mid to upper 30s. More north, in Tomahawk and Rhinelander, 2 to 4 inches is forecast. 

The snow will start Monday morning in central Wisconsin and spread to the rest of northeastern Wisconsin by the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Snow will continue over east-central Wisconsin with a wintry mix Monday evening. By Monday night, snow will be light with patchy, freezing drizzle possible, the weather service said. 

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Marathon, Shawano, Wood, Portage, Waupaca, Outagamie, Waushara and Winnebago counties from noon to midnight on Monday. 

The worst road conditions will be late Monday afternoon into the evening. Roads, bridges and sidewalks will be snowy and slippery. Visibility could also be low at times, according to the weather service. The weather services advises drivers to slow down and use caution on the roads.
